John Alexander founded Columbus 7 BV in 2001. John is English by birth, upbringing and nationality. After some 20 years of almost weekly commuting from the Netherlands to France and Switzerland, John settled permanently in Amsterdam in 2001.

John studied history at Peterhouse, Cambridge University’s oldest college. His first job was with the London base of Leo Burnett, one of the world’s largest advertising agencies. In the mid-seventies he went to INSEAD, the French business school, where he took an MBA. After a spell with L’Oréal he moved to French brandy giant Rémy Martin where he was Vice-President Duty-Free Sales & Marketing. Between 1987 and 2001 John was the Managing Director and founding shareholder of a Paris-based trading company specialised in private label goods sold to major retail chains across Europe.

With years of experience in the business and commercial world, now completed with a legal qualification, English as his mother tongue and an eye for detail, John Alexander and his company, Columbus 7, serve corporate clients that require timely, fluent translations even when the subject matter is dense, specialised and complex.
